Terms of Use & Privacy Notice
Plain-language summary: One Memory at a Time© is provided free for personal use. We ask only for the information needed to provide and verify access. Your memories remain yours.
Free personal access
One Memory at a Time© Volume 1 is provided free for personal use and for meaningful conversations with family members and loved ones. The program content remains copyrighted and may not be reproduced, republished, distributed, sold, or incorporated into another program without written permission.
Information requested for access
We ask for your name, city or town, province or territory, email address, and the user type that best describes you. For organization-linked users, we may also ask for the name of the school, residence, church, agency, organization, or media outlet. Your email address must be activated before first access so we know the request came from a person who controls that address. We record the date of the request, the date the email was verified, the date of your most recent successful access for basic beta administration, and whether you separately chose to receive occasional One Memory at a Time© updates.
What we do not ask for
We do not require your street address, telephone number, date of birth, health information, or proof of residence to use this version of the program.
Your memories and stories
Your memories belong to you. This base version does not record conversations, transcribe your voice, upload your memories, or automatically share your memories with anyone.
Optional “Memory Box” notes
If you choose to write something in the optional “Memory Box” area, the note is stored in the browser on that device. It is not sent to One Memory at a Time© by this version of the app.
Activation and offline use
First-time registration and email activation require an internet connection. After activation, the core app can be stored on your device for use without an internet connection. If access is temporary, the saved guest expiry date is also enforced on the device. Administrative changes such as revocation or permanent blocking take effect when the device next reconnects to the access service.
Limited app activity reporting
During beta testing, OMAAT records basic operational information such as your most recent successful online access, the app and content version last seen, whether the offline pack was enabled, and limited feature-use signals such as opening the Library, Share, Contact, Media, a Guided Story, Memory Box, or the French notice. This helps us understand adoption, identify users who may need an update, and improve reliability. OMAAT does not collect the text you place in Memory Box, the content of a memory or conversation, or what you say to another person.
Choice and control
This is not a memory test. You may skip any story, prompt, or memory. There is no required order, schedule, or finish line. You decide what you wish to remember, write, or share.
Email updates
Receiving occasional One Memory at a Time© updates is optional and separate from access to the program. Leaving that box unchecked does not affect your free access.
Questions
Questions about access, privacy, or use of the program may be sent to hello@onememoryatatime.org.
